Important information about our licensing, the products we offer and how to raise a concern.

Licensing

Wawira Corporation (Wawira Wealth). Ruth Kabuthia-Mathema is a licensed life and accident & sickness insurance agent in Alberta, contracted through World Financial Group Insurance Agency of Canada Inc. (agency licence #2025217). AIC licence #Q7529117-1763384-2026. Ruth Kabuthia-Mathema holds Alberta licences for life insurance and accident & sickness insurance (including critical illness). You can check any licence on the Alberta Insurance Council website. We are licensed to offer insurance products in Alberta, including life insurance, critical illness insurance, and segregated fund contracts and insurance-based guaranteed interest options. We are not registered to sell mutual funds, stocks or ETFs.

Insurers we represent

We are contracted with these insurance companies: Ivari, Industrial Alliance, Manulife, Empire Life, Equitable, BMO, Foresters Financial and Everest. Not every product is available from every insurer. For the plans discussed on this site, the insurers we currently use are: RDSP, Empire Life; RESP, BMO; TFSA and RRSP segregated fund contracts, Ivari, Industrial Alliance and Equitable; term life, Ivari, Industrial Alliance and Equitable; permanent life, Ivari, Manulife, Foresters Financial and Equitable. We are not limited to one insurer, but we can only recommend products from the insurers we are contracted with.

Compensation and conflicts of interest

We are paid commissions by the insurance company that issues a product, and in some cases ongoing service fees or bonuses. This means we earn more or less depending on the product and insurer, which can create a conflict of interest. We will explain how we are paid, and any other conflict, before you make a decision.

Errors & omissions insurance

We carry errors and omissions insurance with Axis Reinsurance Company (Canadian Branch).

Segregated funds

Any amount that is allocated to a segregated fund is invested at the risk of the contract holder and may increase or decrease in value. Guarantees apply at maturity or death and are reduced proportionally by withdrawals. Please read the Information Folder and Fund Facts before investing.

Educational content

Information on this site is general and educational, based on federal and Alberta rules current to 2026. It is not tax, legal or individual investment advice. Calculators provide hypothetical illustrations only.
