Privacy Policy
How Wawira Corporation (Wawira Wealth) collects, uses and protects your personal information.
Last updated: September 2026
Wawira Corporation (Wawira Wealth) ("we", "us") is an Alberta insurance practice. We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We follow Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) for every email we send.
What we collect
Only what we need. If you contact us, join our email list or book a consultation, that is your name, email address, phone number, the topic you choose and any message you write. Please do not put your SIN, account numbers or health details in our forms. If you become a client, we also collect the information insurers and regulators require to recommend and apply for a product. With your permission, analytics cookies tell us which pages are helpful.
Why we collect it, and your consent
We use your information to answer your questions, schedule and hold your consultation, provide advice and service, meet legal and regulatory duties, and, only if you ask us to, send educational emails. We ask for your consent when you submit a form. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting the Privacy Officer below, and we will explain what that means for you.
Booking a consultation
When you book, we keep your name, phone, email, chosen time, topic and notes so we can hold the appointment and send your confirmation. If you choose a video call, we create a Zoom meeting for it. When we turn on text-message verification, we send a one-time code to your phone through Twilio to confirm the number is yours; we do not use it for marketing. Booking records are permanently deleted 24 months after the appointment date, and cancelled bookings are deleted after 90 days.
Who we share it with
Insurance companies you choose to apply with; service providers who help us run the practice, such as email, hosting, video meetings and text verification; and regulators or authorities where the law requires. We never sell your information.
Service providers outside Canada
Some of our providers, including Zoom (video meetings), Twilio (verification texts) and Google (email and calendar), may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there it may be accessible to courts and authorities under that country’s laws. You can ask us about our providers by contacting the Privacy Officer.
Email list
We only email you after you ask us to. Every email says who we are, gives our mailing address and has a working unsubscribe link, and we honour unsubscribe requests promptly. Our mailing address is 1816 Erker Way NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6M 0Z6.
How long we keep it
Contact and email-list information is kept until you ask us to remove it or unsubscribe. Client records are kept for as long as the law and our insurers require, then securely destroyed. Booking information follows the schedule above.
Keeping it safe
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including access controls, encrypted connections and storage kept outside the public part of our website. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Your rights and our Privacy Officer
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask a question about this policy. Contact our Privacy Officer, Nkumbulo Mathema, at privacy@wawira.ca. We will respond within the time the law allows. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
